Keywords, notes and searching
The inspector
Choose View › Show Inspector (⌥⌘I) or click the right sidebar disclosure icon at the top right of the window. The inspector shows the selected patch's keywords and note beside the editor. On a smaller screen it opens as a floating window instead.
Keywords
- Type in the inspector's keyword field and press Return. A keyword can be a short phrase. Separate several with commas. The field suggests keywords the library already uses.
- To tag several patches at once, select them in the sidebar, Control-click and use the Keywords submenu.
- Window › Edit Keywords (⇧⌘T) lists every keyword in the library. Add, rename or delete them there. Renaming one to another's name merges the two. Renaming and deleting change every patch that uses the keyword, and cannot be undone.
- Patches changed by Auto Compose are tagged Auto Compose assisted, unless you turn that off in Settings › Auto Compose.
Notes
Each patch, and System and Setup, can carry a formatted note: fonts, sizes, colors, bold, italic and underline, from the bar above the note or the Format menu. A note is saved as you type.
Keywords and notes follow the sound: they are copied and pasted with a patch, and cleared by Init Patch. They are kept in the library, never sent to the instrument.
Searching
The search field at the top of the sidebar matches patch names and keywords as you type.
For more, click the filter button in the search field to open Advanced Search:
- Add conditions on a patch's settings (any setting the editor shows, in the layout you use), its keywords, its note or its name.
- Choose whether a patch must match all, any or none of them, and nest groups of conditions for more complex searches.
- A setting that belongs to a zone matches if any zone that plays notes matches. Turn on Search all 16 zones to include the rest.
- An effect or COSM setting is chosen under its type, such as Reverb › 05: Hall 2 › Reverb Time, and matches only patches using that type.
The search stays in force, and updates as patches change, until you clear it. System and Setup are never in the results.
