Patch Parameters--Tone Velocity Range Crossfading
(XP-80 Owner's Manual, pg. 50. Copyright 1996, Roland Corp.). By using velocity range crossfading, it is possible to make Patches sound more realistic in timbre changes as the level increases. The graph above shows how the LOWER and UPPER "FADE" parameter values can affect a Tone's level relative to keyboard playing velocity.
